Saturday, September 22, 1900 pg. 3 JUDGEMENT SET ASIDE In the Case of Bond for Jack Godwin of Bells. Some day since the records in the office of Justice of the Peace Sale showed that he had fixed the bond of Jack Godwin, charged with an assault to kill the M.K.&T. section boss at Bells, at $1000. Today he set aside this judgment and the case remains as it was upon the filing of the complaint. Sherman Daily Register Friday, October 26, 1900 pg. 4 JACK GODWIN Is on Trial for Alleged Attempt to Kill Bob Scott The attention of the district court has been engaged all day in the trial of Jack Godwin on the charge of assault to murder Bob Scott, section foreman of the M.K. and T. at Bells. The case will last all week. Sherman Daily Register Saturday October 27, 1900 pg. 4 REDUCED THE OFFENSE JACK GODWIN FOUND GUILT OF AGGRAVATED ASSAULT. In the case of Jack Godwin charged with an assault to murder Bob Clarke, the Katy section boss at Bells, the jury last night found the defendant guilty of an aggravated assault and assessed the penalty at a fine of $150 and the court costs.
