The Austin Weekly Statesman Austin, Texas June 17, 1897 Thursday pg 10 Thirty Years for Uxoricide Sherman, Tex., June 9, - (Speical) - In the district court this morning the jury in the case of Willis Cannon, colored, charged with the killing of his wife at Van Alstyne on June 1, 1896, returned a verdict assessing the punishment at confinment in the penitentiary for thirty years.
