Galveston, Texas Tuesday, September 17, 1878 pg. 1 FROM SHERMAN An Old Man Brutally Beaten by a Boy (Special Telegram to the News) Sherman, Sept. 16 - Last Saturday evening a young man named Wm. Owen had a dispute with his employer, Harvey Lamb, of the firm Brook & Lamb, harness and saddlery dealers, and struck Mr. Lamb over the head with a patent iron box opener, fracturing the skull badly. After knocking him down, he kicked him several times on the head and shoulders. Lamb is an inoffensive, gray haired citizen and Owen is a lad of 20, and a devil-may-care fellow. Owen fled and is said at large. Lamb is lying in a very critical condition. Owen wanted Lamb to pay him for work uncompleted.
