- Nellie Louise Thomas, 91, passed away Friday, December 31, 2020 at
The Belmont on Twin Creeks in Allen. Cremation arrangements are
under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.
Nellie was born December 2, 1929 in Bonham, Texas, daughter of John and Etta Lifsey Segler. She graduated from Baylor High School in 1946 and attended the Wilson N. Jones School of Nursing from 1947-1950. On January 26, 1951 Nellie married Joe Thomas. They were married 45 years when he died in 1996. A lifelong RN, Mrs. Thomas worked in the Dallas area, retiring from the City of Dallas in 1986 where she had worked as a public health nurse. Mrs. Thomas will be remembered for her compassionate nature, always willing to take care of those in need. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Merriman Blythe of Sherman; and 2 nephews, Don Merriman of Sherman and Danny Merriman and wife, Shen, of Sherman. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
