May 25, 2010 GORDONVILLE - Funeral services for Richard "Rick" Stephens, 57, were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Gordonville with Rev. Rusty Waller officiating. Cremation followed the service. Services were under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro. Richard passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2010 in Dexter, Michigan. He was born on July 12, 1952 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Loyola Paul and Irene Muriel (Davis) Stephens. Richard married Lorraine Farias on March 6, 1971 in Reno, Nevada. He was a truck driver for 39 years. For more than 20 years, Richard was a truck driver for Oliver Rubber Company. He was the owner and operator driver leased to Landstar Ranger for 9-1/2 years. Richard loved bowling, boating, and fishing. He was a fan of the New Orleans Saints. Richard was a wonderful family man and madly in love with his wife. He was viewed by many as a father figure, "Daddy Rick." Richard, known as "Artichoke" on the CB radio, was a mentor to other drivers by witnessing his faith to them. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Stephens of Gordonville; sons, Dr. Johnny Burston and wife Loretta of Mindarie, Australia; and Richard Stephens and wife Trina of Denton; a daughter, Amanda Kongthong and husband Jag of McKinney; grandchildren, John Paul Stephens and wife Elaina; Ashley Stephens, Jaggie Kongthong, Hannah Stephens, Dominic Kongthong, Josie Kongthong, Christian Kongthong, Alexandra Burston, and Reagan Stephens; a brother, Russel Stephens and wife Linda of Quitman, Texas: and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyola Paul and Irene Muriel Stephens. Pallbearers were Richard Stephens, Clint Knowles, Jag Kongthong, Matt Bryan, Johnny Burston, Anthony Bryan, Roy Stephens, and Raul Brown.
