Paul B. Purdom went home to meet his Lord and Savior on July 19, 2021 at the age of 87. He was born to the late Riley and Amanda Endulia (Dude) Purdom in Van Alstyne, Texas. He graduated from Van Alstyne High in 1953 and was a US Army veteran; serving his country from 1955 to 1957 stationed in Korea.
He married Eddylee Fulenwider October 7, 1959. They had 5 daughters and resided in Allen, Texas from 1963 until 1987, prior to relocating back to Van Alstyne, Texas.
Mr. Purdom retired from the trucking industry after 33 years of service. He loved softball and coached in Allen, Texas from 1969 until 1980 for the Allen Youth Softball Association. He enjoyed gardening, pitching horseshoes, croquet, working the daily crossword puzzle, and watching his grandchildren participate in sporting events. As an avid sports fan his favorite teams were the Texas Longhorns (softball and football), Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a loving husband, father and Papa and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Joe Purdom and Harold Purdom, daughter, Dora Purdom, and great granddaughter, Sloane Rodrigue.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eddylee Purdom. Daughters: Donna Stieben and husband, Randy, of Van Alstyne, Texas, Lora Parton of Waco, Texas, Theresa Griffin and husband, Alan, of Anna, Texas and Natalie Rodrigue of Denison, Texas. His brothers/sisters-in-laws: James and Sandra Purdom of Garland, Texas, Frank and Joann Purdom of Sherman, Texas and Bob and June Purdom of Whitewright, Texas. His sister and brother-in-law: Patricia and Ned Ireland of Van Alstyne, Texas. 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
