GORDONVILLE - The Family of David Harlan Pearce, 78, held a memorial service on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Sherwood Shores Baptist Church in Gordonville with Rev. Delbert Vest Officiating. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Meador Funeral Home.
Mr. Pearce passed away at his home on Monday, January9, 2012.
David Harlan Pearce was born in Harper, Kansas on September 18, 1933 to Elijah Green and Madge (Conn) Pearce. He grew up in Argonia, Kansas, served in the United States Army during the Korean War. David married Sandra Beatty and lived and farmed in Kansas. He later lived and worked in Carlsbad, California. David married Barbara McCranie on December 19, 1998 in Carlsbad, California and later moved to Sherwood Shores. He was a member of Sherwood Shores Baptist Church and served on the Youth Center Building Committee as the chairman. David enjoyed bowling, fishing, woodworking, card games and going site seeing.
He loved all his family, especially his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Pearce of Gordonville; 3 children, Mike Pearce, Dawn Pearce and Jeff Pearce all of Milan, Kansas; 3 step-children, Steven McCranie and wife, Teresa of Lake Palestine, Jeff McCranie and wife, Diana, of Fort Worth and Jack McCranie and wife, Perri of Aledo; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Denzel Pearce and wife, Barbara, of Kansas, Derrel Pearce and wife,  Vivian, of Kansas and Dean Pearce and wife, Kathy, of Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah and Madge Pearce; daughter, Laurie Pearce; wife, Sandra Pearce; 3 sisters, Alice Phillippi, Doris Kuykendall and Joy Kosydar and a brother, Merle Pearce.
