Memorial services for Thelma Mary Mericle, 71-year-old Whitewright homemaker were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church in Tom Bean. She died Tuesday, September 17, at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman.  Rev. Mike Courtney of the Church officiated.  The body was cremated.
Mrs. Mericle was born in Beaumont, the daughter of J. P. and Rena Choate. She married Ben Mericle Oct. 5, 1937, in Kountze.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tom Bean and taught an adult Bible class there.
Surviving are her sons, David Mericle of Victoria and Mark Mericle of Palestine; daughters, Carol McFarlin of Whitewright and Gale Davie of Mansfield; sister, Pat Moreland of Vidor; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
