Roy "Dave" McDonald, 71, passed away on January 27, 2020 at Carrus Hospital in Sherman, Texas.
Dave was born January 15, 1949 in Dallas, son of Andrew and Alliene McDonald.
Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in several areas of the world including tours in Vietnam.  He received numerous awards and recognitions including purple hearts.  After 22 years in the Navy, he retired.  He then went to work for USPS Cincinnati Bulk Mail Center. After retirement from USPS, he returned to Texas, eventually settling in Denison, Texas.
Following cremation, his ashes will be buried in Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery with military honors, date and time pending.
With his never met a stranger personality, David loved and was loved by all who met him.
A Celebration of Life was held Sunday afternoon, February 9, 2020 at the Masonic Lodge, 2101 S. Austin Avenue in Denison.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Jane McDonald; and young brother, Jim McDonald.
David is survived by his son, Andrew (Amber); twin brother, Dan; brother, Micha (Betty); sister, Debbie Decourcy; sister-in-law, Sanoma McDonald; and several nieces and nephews.
Also surviving is his companion of 6 years, Pat Barnhill and the family he called his bonus family, Gina Barnhill Neal (Tim); Scott Barnhill (Natalie); Melissa Barnhill Ashley (Steven); several bonus grandchildren and his bonus group of Ciaccio cousins, especially his good buddy, Walker Wedell.
Arrangements were under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home, Denison, Texas.
