Sylvia
Laxo was born November 21, 1942 in Picayune, Mississippi. She
passed away on July 15, 2020 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison,
Texas. Sylvia graduated from Picayune Memorial High School in
1960 and completed the secretarial program at Pearl River College in
1961. Her secretarial career began at MS Power Co. in Gulfport,
Mississippi and went on to include positions in California as well as
Texas. Some of Sylvia's fondest memories were of being the
secretary at both Lee Elementary and Mockingbird Elementary in Coppell,
Texas where she made so many dear and lifelong friends. After
retiring in 2002, she moved to the family farm in Telephone,
Texas. Sylvia was only retired briefly before she became the
secretary of Telephone Baptist Church and worked there until her health
declined.
Sylvia is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ed Laxo; her beloved son, Eric Laxo; her best friend and sister, Joaun Lee; brother-in-law, David Lee; and nephew, Matthew Lee and his family; numerous cousins as well as her close friends Margaret Ann, Juanita and Marlyn. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mattie Salter; and her brother, Larry Salter. As per Sylvia's wishes, her remains will be scattered at a favorite spot at a later date. A celebration of Sylvia's life was planned for family and friends in the future. To know Sylvia was to love Sylvia! Her great sense of humor and infectious laughter made her a joy to be around. You knew you were special when she called you by one of the many nicknames she used. Those of us who had the privilege of knowing Sylvia are so much better for it. In honor and memory of this precious lady, please do something kind for someone as often as you can.
