Van Alstyne, Texas - Joel Lynn Hubbard was born on April 29, 1980 in McKinney, Texas; he attended Van Alstyne High School and later relocated to Sherman, Texas.  After an early marriage that ended in divorce, Joel then decided it was time for a change in scenery so he decided upon Los Angeles to be with his father for a period of time.  He eventually returned to Sherman where he proudly obtained his certification for the food service industry.  With that he enjoyed his last occupation of line caterer at Austin College.
Joel loved the outdoors, fishing, and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan.  He could always be found with a smile on his face and something positive to say.
Even after being diagnosed with his illness, he never gave up, never complained, and was forever determined to be that example and be an inspiration for someone else.
He lovingly leaved behind three children: Jamal Hudson, 17, Janessa Hubbard 15, and Malcolm David Hubbard 11.  His two stepchildren: Haley and Jacob Whicker.  His mother: Elizabeth Hubbard.  Father, Joe Dotson.  Two siblings: Ra-Shelle Milian and Mondreykiel A. Hubbard.  Two nieces: Yolinna Milian and Breyonna Williams.  One nephew, Ethan Sean Hubbard and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Joel was loved by many and will be greatly missed by us all.
A memorial visitation was Wednesday, August 12, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne, Texas.  Memorial, visitation and cremation arrangements were under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home & Crematory, 637 W. Van Alstyne Pkwy.
