Memorial services were held Saturday morning, October 27, 2018 at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel for James Haliburton, Jr., 90, of Sherman.  Pastor Bobby Hawkins for Luella Baptist Church officiated.
James was born in Leonard on March 11, 1928, son of Jimmy and Ida Geneva Green Haliburton.  They moved their family to Sherman in early 1930s to farm.  James attended Pecan Grove School and married Mary Virginia "Remmie" Morris on May 31, 1947.  They celebrated 40 years of marriage before her death in 1987.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany, where he worked as a tank and Jeep mechanic.   Upon his return he worked in various gas stations and later owned several businesses in the Texoma area. In the 1970s he drove semi-trucks on the interstate, and later went on to create Haliburton Trucking Company.  He later drove for Alan Richey, where he delivered the U.S. Mail between Ft. Worth to San Francisco for 35 years, where he became drive of the year in 1989.
James retired in1993 and enjoyed perfecting his gardening and yardwork skills in the following years.
The couple had 2 children: daughter, Joyce Haliburton Stanley of Sherman; son, Roy Haliburton of Amarillo, Texas; 3 granddaughters, Dawn Cook Hunt and husband, Doug of Sherman; De Anne Cook Moon and husband, Mike, of Cartwright, Oklahoma; Mary Stanley Weeks and husband, Cody of Eufaula, Oklahoma; 5 great-granddaughters; 2 great-grandsons; 15 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nelda Haliburton of Sherman; 1 cousin, Morris Haliburton of Bells; and numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family members.
James was preceded in death by his 3 brothers: Ray Haliburton, Mearl Haliburton and Cecil Haliburton; 2 sisters-in-law, Mildred "Neva" Haliburton and Pat Haliburton; great-grandson, Jayden Weeks; and special friend, Patsy Neal of Luella.
