Denison - Betty was born Friday, February 21, 1930 in McCurtain County, Oklahoma, daughter of James and Gladys Williams Hawthorne; she passed from this life on Monday, November 14, 2016 at her home at the age of 86.
She came to Texas with her family at a young age.  As a young lady, she lived in Ft. Worth.  She worked for Miller Manufacturing as a quilter for over 10 years and for Tandy Electronics in the assembly line for several years.  Betty had been a resident of Grayson County for over 30 years.
Survivors include children: Faron Bruce Perkins and wife, Sara, of Arlington, Texas; Linda Wickersham of Sherman; James Griffin and wife, Michelle Fillmore, of Denison; and Gladys Holden of Denison; sisters, Allie Hargrove of Sherman; Velma Frampton and husband, Slim, of Howe; and Annie Peacock and husband, Don, of Howe; grandchildren, Ricky, Robert, Lacey, William, Todd, Betty Jo, Crystal and Tommy; and great-grandchildren, Talyn, Kayden, Alexzandrea, Chance, Gage and Rosalind; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Griffin; grandson, Zack Perkins; brothers, James, William and George; sister, Thelma Davis; and brother-in-law, Charles Hargrove.
A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, November 26, in Waldo Funeral Home Chapel in Sherman with Cherie Fry, chaplain at Heart to Heart Hospice, officiating.  Services were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman.
