 With
great sadness we announce the passing of Richard Batts, known to all as
"Strawberry" or "Straw." Richard departed this earth October 23,
2020 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman, Texas.
Richard was born November 6, 1953 in Denison, Texas, son of Evelyn and Herman Batts. They both preceded him in death, along with his brother, Ronald Taylor. Richard was a lifelong resident of Denison. He graduated from Denison High School Class of 1972. Like most of us, he moved away but decided Denison was his home and he came back home. He went to work for Fisher Control and worked for them for 38 years before his health forced him into early retirement. Richard love the water and spent most all his free time at the lake with his boat and all of his lake buddies - they all know who they are. Richard leaves behind his nephews, Blair and Damien Taylor of Washington. There are 2 special lifelong friends that must be thanked - Mike Downs and Jimmy Measles for stepping up and being there when he needed them most; he would be forever grateful. Richard was cremated according to his wishes. No services were planned. Arrangements were under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home, Denison.
