Clinton Bates, 89, entered into eternal life Wednesday, January 25, 2023 in Pottsboro, Texas.
Clinton was born December 15, 1933 in the Locust community, son of HB "Red" Bates and Jessie Lee Allen Bates. He married the love of his life, Jacquetta Morrow, September 14, 1956 in Pottsboro, Texas. Clinton worked for Champion Coolers in Denison for 49 years. He served on the Pottsboro School Board. Clinton was instrumental in bringing the football program to Pottsboro and enjoyed watching the Cardinals become the team they are today. Clinton leaves behind his beloved family: daugters, Debbie Davis and husband, Buck; and Pam Saenz; grandchildren: Andy Davis and wife, Emily; Philip Davis and wife, Samantha; Steven Davis and wife, Jennifer; Ashley Jager; Riken & Liberty Anderson; Jayden & Alexander Atkinson; great-great-grandson, Beau Davis; special friend, Sue Martin. Clinton had numerous extended family members and friends, especially the special friends he made at the Pottsboro Senior Center where he loved to show them how winning a domino game was done. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sisters, Earline Durham and Iva Jean Mullican; grandsons; Mark Davis; Lance and Houston Factor; and son-in-law, George Saenz. Clinton requested to be cremated and his remains buried next to his wife at a later date.
