Mrs. Sallie Young Rites Held at Church of Christ
Mrs. Sallie Jane Young, born February 26, 1876, at Tyro, Mississippi,
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Durham, passed away at her home in the
Ethel community Friday, December 20, 1946. She came to Texas at the
age of fifteen years. In July 1896, she was married to George H.
Young in Collinsville. She had been a member of the Church of Christ
for the past forty-three years. Her husband preceded her in death
twenty years ago.
The funeral services were held at the Collinsville Church of Christ
conducted by O.L. Proffitt, minister of the Collinsville Church of Christ
and Willis Kreager of the Gainesville church.
She is survived by seven children, thirteen grandchildren, and three
great-grandchildren. The children are Joe, Herbert, Jeff, C.J. and
Mrs. Lottie Stephenson of Collinsville and Mrs. A.R. Norton of Brinkman,
Oklahoma; and Ed Young of Houston.
Out of town people attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy
McDaniels of Denton, Mr. and Mrs. Birge Gregory of Denton, Mr. and Mrs.
Howard Allen of Dallas, Harold B. Mayfield, Lake Louise, Tacoma Wash.,
Bill Hendricks of Houston, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Young and children, Houston,
Mr. and Mrs. A.R. Norton and children of Brinkman, Okla., Mr. and Mrs.
Ralph Young and daughter of Whitesboro, Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Young of Whitesboro,
Mrs. M. Morris of Howe, PFC and Mrs. M.B. Ragsdale and daughter of Gatesville, Texas,
and Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Faulkner and daughter of Jefferson, Texas.
