WHITESBORO - Funeral services for Velma Ruth Jones, 86, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 9, in the Meador Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Carney officiating. Interment will follow at the Collinsville Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8. All service arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home. Velma Jones passed away in Whitesboro on December 6, 2010. She was born to Tony Joseph and Ethel R. Maude (Brewer) Chisum on July 15, 1924 in Addison Bend, Okla. She loved gardening, sewing, and cooking. Most of all, she loved her family. She is survived by her sons, Fred Bearden of Whitesboro, Ray Jackson and wife, Christi, of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Raymond Jackson, and wife, Carole, of Elk City, Okla.; daughters, Brenda Taylor and husband, Charles, of Whitesboro and Debra Carver and husband, Bryan, of Springtown; sisters, Wanda Chisum, Peggy Chisum, Betty Chisum, Lucille Chisum and Leona Chisum; brothers, Kenneth Chisum and Johnny Chisum; 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Ethel Chisum; son, R. A. Jackson; two grandchildren, Sheila and Tony Bearden; two brothers and a sister.
