4th Addition, Section 1 Alice Adamson 15 September 1872 - 12 January 1967 Jacob W. Adamson 28 February 1866 - 2 February 1951 The Denison Press Friday, February 9, 1951 pg.4 Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, February 4, at the J.W. Adamson home, 431 W. Gandy, for Mr. Adamson, 84, who died in a local hospital Friday evening after a lengthy illness. Rev. Richard Crews, pastor of the First Christian church and Rev W.B. Billingsley, pastor of First Baptist, officiated and interment was in Collinsville Cemetery with Bratcher-Moore, funeral directors, in charge of arrangements. Mr. Adamson was owner and manager and teacher at Draughon's Business College here for 40 years, up until his recent retirement, which was caused by ill health. He was born in Collinsville, February 28, 1866, son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnathan Adamson. He received his education in Collinsville schools and at Sam Houston State Teachers College. In 1888 he was married to Miss Alice Williams in the Macomb community. He was a member of the Baptist church, the Woodmen of the World, the Masonic lodge No. 403 and the Rotary Club. Mr. Adamson taught school for 10 years in Texas and Louisiana and served for a time on the Smith County Examining Board for teachers, and served a term as president of the East Texas Teachers Association. He came to Denison in 1906 and became manager of Draughon's. He served 3 terms in the Texas Legislature from 1930 to 1936. He served as a member of Denison's selective service board. Survivors include his widow; a brother, Col. George Adamson of Washington, D.C,; a sister, Mrs. Maud Armstrong of Ada, Oklahoma; 2 grandchildren, Victor Adamson of the Virgin Islands, and Mrs. Sam Pack, Sherman; one great-grandchild, Peggy Peck, of Sherman; and 2 nieces, Mrs. Gaylor Blue and Mrs. Melrose Tappan of Sherman.
