Editor's Comment : Alfred's second wife was Mary Jane Murphy.  Her first husband was a Maples and when he died, she married Alfred.  She had two boys, Walter and Tom Maples, who were mentioned in Alfred's obituary.  Mary's name is on their gravestone, but she is not buried with Alfred in Collinsville.  She was living near her sons in south Texas and is buried in Camp Ruby Cemetery.

Leander T. Tuck
29 July 1874 - 10 October 1953

Death claimed Alfred F. Tuck last Saturday at one o'clock at his home one-half mile north of Collinsville. He had been ill for more than a year, and for nine weeks had been in a serious condition.   Almost until the last though, he was conscious and discussed matters, including possible death, with those at his bedside.
Despite that he was a large man and accustomed to activity outdoors until taken to his bed, he was patient and kindly.  Several times he was known to remark about his condition, realizing the seriousness of it, saying that he knew by all odds he should live many years but if death seemed his fate, he would accept it smilingly and without a murmur. That his relatives declared he did and the passing was with quiet and peace.
The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at three thirty o'clock with interment in the Collinsville cemetery.  In charge of the funeral services were Rev. A.H. Bates, his pastor of the "Cumberland Presbyterian Church" assisted by Rev. J.W. Short, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Powell Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.  Pallbearers were C.F. Goodman, C.F. Pelphrey, F.D. DeCordova, H.W. McGehee. George Welch and C.S. Davis.
Flower girls were Mrs. S.C. Davis and Misses Pauline and Lynetter Bates, and Misses Thelma and Lillian Mayfield.
Mr. Tuck was a native of Collinsville and at the time of his death was sixty-two years old, having been born June 25, 1872.  He was born within a half a mile of where he died and his home was part of the original Manuel Fisher estate.  Mr. Fisher being Mrs. Tuck's father.   For some years he was in the railroad business, much of the time in South Texas.  A few years ago he returned to Collinsville and took up farming, being actively engaged in that line until his illness forced him to do less labor.
Surviving Mr. Tuck are his wife, Mrs. Mary Tuck; two brothers Douglas of Coleman, Oklahoma and Leander Tuck of Collinsville.  Five sisters, Mrs. Alice Cagle, Mrs. Hayes Jolly, Mrs. Ed Gilmore, and Mrs. William Wallace and Mrs. Albert Pearce of Collinsville, and two stepsons Walter and Tom Maples of Glidden , Texas.  Also an uncle Sam Tuck and Aunt N.B. Cagle of Collinsville.
