Funeral services for Ralph Roland Maglaughlin, 93, of Whitesboro, were held Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Meador Funeral Home chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Jerry Davis and Ricky Patterson officiating. Interment followed at Collinsville Cemetery. Ralph passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Wilson N. Jones Hospital. Ralph was born to John and Jewel Hall Maglaughlin on January 15, 1924 in Tioga, Texas. He married Arleen Starling on December 20, 1945 in Swansboro, North Carolina. Ralph was a Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corp, serving during World War II from September 1942 to March 1946. After leaving the military, he received his Master's in Education and worked as a Vocational Counselor for Gainesville ISD. Ralph was a farmer and cattleman who enjoyed riding his horses and trail riding. He is survived by his daughter, Debra Elliott and husband, Randy, of Sadler; son-in-law, Randy Thomas of Collinsville; sister, Peggy Jo Melvin and husband, Harold, of Laurel, Mississippi; grandchildren, Amber Tyler, Leslie Hunt, Patrick Sapp, Angela Reynolds, and Mark Elliott; and 11 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Collinsville Education Foundation, P.O. Box 595, Collinsville, Texas 76233. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Johnnie Louise Robinson; 2 brothers, Robert Maglaughlin and Gene Maglaughlin; grandson, James Brookshire; and daughter, Wanda Thomas.
