Fired Upon as He Stood Behind counter of Store at Collinsville - Had Fights during Afternoon.
Sherman, Texas, Dec. 16. -- George Eaves, a business man of Collinsville, this county, was assassinated while standing behind the counter in his store last night. He had had several fights during the afternoon and about 9 o'clock parties from the outside fired upon him with a shotgun blowing his head off.
Officers are working on the case and the grand jury here is examining a large number of Collinsville citizens but so far no arrests have been made. The coroner has not yet returned a verdict. It may take all day. It has developed that Eves had a pistol in his hand when shot, but the crime has been fastened on no one as yet.

G.G. Eaves, about 40 years of age, and a resident of Collinsville for the past five years, was shot and instantly killed at his place of business Thursday night.
