REV. HUGH NEWSOM
Collinsville - Rev. Hugh Edmund Newsom Jr.,
54-year-old minister of Miller Memorial Baptist Church of Collinsville,
died Monday at Wilson N. Jones Memorial Hospital from an apparent heart
attack.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Miller Memorial Baptist
Church, conducted by Rev. A.W. Blaine, Baptist minister of Collinsville
and Rev. Harold Watson of the First Baptist Church of Whitesboro.
Burial will be in Collinsville Cemetery, directed by Huff Funeral Home
of Whitesboro.
Rev. Newsom was born in Fort Worth, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh E.
Newsom Sr., and married Christene Walden on Dec. 4, 1955, in Caney, Okla.
He graduated from Tech High School in Fort Worth, attended Texas
Christian University and was a graduate of Howard Payne University and
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He had served as minister of Trickham Baptist Church, McGee Valley
Baptist Church in Daisy, Okla; New Hope Baptist Church of Cleburne, and
for the past 24 years, at Miller Memorial Baptist Church in Collinsville.
He was a Mason and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are his wife; daughter, Suzanne Elaine Newsom of Denton;
parents, of Fort Worth; and sister, Mrs. Mary Annie Dragoo of Wichita Falls.
Pallbearers will be deacons of the Miller Memorial Baptist Church.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
