Collinsville - Services for Hugh M. Newsom
Sr., 90-year-old retired Fort Worth sheet metal worker who died
Sunday in the Collinsville Care Home, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in
Miller Memorail Baptist Church here.
The Rev. Jimmie Dragoo and the Rev. A.S. Blaine will officiate and
burial will be in Collinsville Cemetery directed by Huff Funeral Home of
Whitesboro.
Mr. Newsom was born March 26, 1893 in DeKalb, Miss., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Duncan
Newsom, and married Jota June Morris on Feb. 26, 1927 in Fort Worth.
He was a World War I veteran and employed by Swift & Co. before
his retirement. He was a member of the order of Eastern Star, a Mason
and a Baptist.
Surviving are his wife of Collinsville; daughter, Mary Annie Dragoo
of Wichita Falls; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jon Carpenter, Phillip Williams, Keith Watson,
Aaron Miller, Gary Glenn, Billy Dale Johnson, Bob Walker and Leroy Sinclair.
The family will be at the home of Mrs. Hugh Newsom, Jr.

- Services for Mrs. Iota June Newsom of Azle, 86-year-old former
Collinsville resident who died Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Fort
Worth, were held Monday in Huff Funeral Chapel in Whitesboro.
The Rev. Jimmie Dragoo officiated and burial was in Collinsville Cemetery.
Mrs.
Newsom was born in Boyd, a daughter of Edward Mitchell Morris and Mary
Lavina Neel Morris, and married Hugh Edmond Newsom Sr. on February 26,
1927 in Fort Worth.
She was a member of the Baptist Church of Collinsville.
Surviving
are her daughter, Mary A. Dragoo of Azle; sisters, Mary Roe Troxel of
Fort Worth and Maude Hulen of Houston; five grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were John Carpenter, Phillip Williams, Keith Watson, Harding Cannon, Paul Hite and Greg McDonnell.
