Whitesboro - Funeral services for Charles Melton Swindle, 83, of Collinsville were held Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Meador Funearl Home Chapel, Whitesboro, officiated by Ricky Patterson and assisted by Scott Sides. Interment followed at Collinsville Cemetery. Charles passed away February 18, 2018 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. He was born in Collinsville on February 16, 1935 to Jim and Marie Battenfield Swindle. Charles served in the United States Navy 1955-1959, during that time he served aboard the USS Yorktown as an aviation electrician's mate. He married Mary Ann Carney on July 10, 1964 in Collinsville. Charles was a lifelong rancher and farmer who loved to hunt. He was a man who enjoyed talking to people and getting to know them; he was able to put this to use by going to Poor Boys Cafe and having coffee with the "Coffe Crew." He loved his time spent with his cows and his dogs. Charles is survived by his wife; son, Brian Scott Swindle and wife, Lanette, of Collinsville; son, Charles Brent Swindell and wife, Beverly, of Collinsville; grandchildren, Brentney DiPrato and husband, Tyler, of Austin; Brooke Swindle of Austin; Daniel Swindle of Collinsville; Lily-Marie Swindle of Collinsville; Erik Swindle of Collinsville; brother, Don Swindle and wife, Shirley, of Collinsville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jimmie Cooley. Pallbearers were Grady Carney, Ricky Carney, Randy Carney, Rusty Carney, Danny Bates, and Shane Harville. Honorary pallbearers were The Poor Boys Cafe Coffee Crew.
