The Sunday Gazetteer
Sunday, April 27, 1890 pg. 3 Died The Gazetteer records with regret the death of Mrs. Jacob Grove, which occurred at the family residence, No. 1215 Owings street, Monday night at 9 o'clock. The deceased was a lady of amiable and engaging disposition and by the exercise of these womanly traits she had won the love and esteem of a wide circle of devoted friends. She was in her 56th year. The funeral, which was largely attended, took place from the home of the deceased at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. He married a third time to Ida Mitchell; he was 63 years of age at the time and she was 34 years of age. They
moved to Batesville in south Texas sometime in the early 1900s and were
listed in the 1900 census for Batesville, Zavala County, Texas. They
later returned to Denison where he died in 1919. Thirty-seven days
later on January 6, 1920, Ida was granted a widow's pension. Little else is known of Ida
except that she is listed in the 1921 Denison City Directory as Jacob's
widow. Although Jacob's occupation is listed as carpenter in latter years, in earlier years he was a cooper. Coffman~Layne Cemetery If you find any of Grayson County TXGenWeb links inoperable, please send me a message. |
