MRS. BURCH OF DENISON DEAD Denison, Texas, August 18 - Mrs. M. A. Burch, a resident of this city for more than 40 years, died at 1 p.m. Tuesday following a short illness. She was 76 years old. Funeral services were held from the residence at 3 p.m. Thursday. Surviving are 3 sons, E.C. and Andy Burch of this city and Nat Burch of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; and one daughter, Mrs. Millie Bolling of Waco. Interment was in Layne Cemetery. Editor's Note: Name was Mary Alma Bash Burch, but she went by "Mollie". ANDY BURCH IS DEAD AFTER 65 YEARS IN CITY J.A. "Andy" Burch, 68, resident of Denison for 65 years and a pioneer in the city's growth, died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at his home, 531 W. Chestnut street, after an illness of several years. Mr. Burch has been confined to his home following a stroke of paralysis 5 years ago. Mr. Burch was born June 24, 1866 in Missouri, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Burch. Coming to Denison in 1870, he was one of the first peace officers in the city. He was for many years in the real estate business and served for one year as president of the Denison Real Estate board. Mr. Burch carried the petition and collected the first money for the erection of the first public school in Denison. He was active as a civic worker during his business career. Mr. Burch married Miss Mae Edgett in Sherman February 5, 1890. He was a member of Waples Memorial Methodist church. Surviving are the widow of Denison and one sister, Mrs. M.A. Boling, of Ft. Worth. The body was removed to Short-Murray chapel pending funeral arrangements. Friday, January 26, 1951 pg. 4 MRS. MAE BURCH Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Waples Methodist church for Mrs. May Burch, 613 W. Monterey, who died at her home Thursday, January 18. Dr. H.C. Henderson officiated and burial was in Layne Coffman cemetery. Mrs. Burch was born in Denison, March 8, 1872, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sim Edgett. She was educated in Denison and graduated from Denison high school. She was a member of the Methodist church. Mrs. Burch was the widow of the late J. Andrew "Andy" Burch, Denison realtor. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Alma Wimberly of Amarillo; 4 nephews, Ed and Earl Burch, Leon and Arthur Edgett of Denison; 3 nieces, Mrs. Myrtle Bruton and Mrs. Daisy Cagle of Denison; and Miss Velma Carden of Lawton, Oklahoma.
