Sarah Margaret Combs 2 April 1865 - 18 January 1944 Jonathan Elbert Combs 27 December 1859 - 26 December 1946 Mrs.
Combs was born in Carrilton, Arkansas, the daughter of William and
Easter Louisa Bottoms Patterson. She died at home in the Hyde Park
community, Denison, Texas after ten years of declining health and ten
days of critical illness. On 14 August 1882, she wed Jonathan E. Combs. In 1910 she moved to the Hyde Park community. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She was survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. J.E. Boren and Mrs. H.E. Bothe of Denison, and Mrs. R.C. Hawkins of Gordonville, Texas; two sons, M.O. Combs of Denison and D.E. Combs of Cheyenne, Wyoming; 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; four sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were held at the Short- Murray chapel in Denison. Interment followed in the Layne cemetery under the direction of Talley Funeral Home. An obituary appeared 18 January 1944, on Page 9 of the Sherman Democrat, Sherman, Texas. Funeral services for Jonathan E. Combs, who died early Thursday in a Denison hospital, will be held Friday, the day which would have been his 86th birthday. Mr. Combs, who lived in and near Denison since 1908, lived on Route 3. Services will be held at Bratcher-Moore chapel, time to be announced. Survivors are two sons. Dick Combs of Cheyenne, Wyoming and M.O. Combs of Denison, and three daughters, Mrs. Lila Brown, Mrs. Mollie Hawkins and Mrs. Stella Bothe, all of Denison.
