"The following sad news, copied from the Gallatin (Mo.) Democrat, will be of great interest to some of our readers, as the party named formerly lived in our city.
Dennison [sic], Texas, December 12, 1880. Editor Democrat: Believing that we have several friends in Daviess, and as I am too sad and weary to write private letters to each, I take this method, by your permission, to inform them of the death of my precious wife and her sister, Miss Hattie Vaughan, who had been with us about 8 years. Mrs. Worley took typhoid fever in the Indian Territory and was sick 10 weeks and died December 6, at 3:30 p.m. in the city of Dennison [sic], Texas. Miss Hattie Vaughan was sick 16 days of typhoid fever and died December 8, at 5:50 a.m. They were both buried in one grave in the cemetery in Dennison. Rev. Jacob Ditzler, who happened to be about 30 miles away was telegraphed for, and came and preached their funeral sermons at the Presbyterian church. I leave the friends to estimate, if they can, the almost unbearable bereavement we have now to undergo, in the loss of such a wife and sister. W.J. Worley [A.J.
