James
A. Woods, 57, 600 W. Owing street, who died at a local hospital at 4:05
a.m. Friday, was buried Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the services
being conducted by Rev. L.R. Lamb and directed by Short-Murray.
He
had lived in Denison for 25 years. He was born at Lulling, Texas,
August 15, 1884, his parents being Mr. and Mrs. N.J. Woods. He
was reared and educated at Lulling and followed farming for a number of
years, coming to Denison in 1917. He accepted work as a
blacksmith helper at the Katy and worked at it for 10 years, later
taking up the carpenter's trade, following that trade until he became
ill two weeks ago.
Surviving are his widow; a son, Eugene; and a
daughter, Mrs. Lola Barber, both of this city. Brothers are Ben
of Paris, and S.B., J.D. and W.C. of this city. Sisters are Mrs.
Alice Morrison of Chattanooga; Mrs. Lula Adams of New Castle, Texas;
and Mrs. Bettie Meyers of Denison.
Pallbearers were Adam Sowder, Ernest Sowder, Ray Sowder, Frank Sowder, Van Ford and James Herbert.
