SHERMAN - Funeral services for Wayne Taylor will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 at Waldo Funeral Home. Mike Bentley of the North Union Church of Christ in Whitesboro will officiate with burial and military honors following at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Dwight Howard, David Huntsman, Tommy Neal, Kevin Brule, Rick Reeves and Ronnie Clark will serve as pallbearers. Wayne's Brothers in Christ from the North Union Church of Christ are honorary pallbearers. After a four month battle with cancer, Mr. Taylor passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009 at his home at the age of 65.

Harold Wayne Taylor was born Dec. 14, 1943 in Orange to the late Robert R. and Valta (Hill) Taylor. Following high school, Wayne served two years in the U.S. Army and was awarded two Purple Hearts for his service in Vietnam. On July 30, 1966, Wayne married Barbara Beall in Sherman. Wayne was discharged from the military in 1968. In 1970 he began work as a paint contractor and continued as such until his recent illness prohibited him from working.

Wayne will be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. His grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as "Git" were his passion and he loved spending time with them all.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara of Sherman; son, Jimmy W. Taylor and wife Khristy of Gunter; daughter, Kimberly A. Ferguson and husband Tim of Whitesboro; one son at heart, Jochen Moll of Germany; grandsons, Kyle Ferguson, Houston and Hunter Pokorny, and Jared Taylor; granddaughters, Courtney Ferguson and Kenzie Taylor; brothers, Bobby R. Taylor and wife Charlotte and R. Gene Taylor, all of Sherman; sister, Sharon Taylor White and husband Billy of Frisco; father-in-law, David Beall and his wife Mary of Denison; sister-in-law, Melba Howard of Sherman; brother-in-law, David Beall of Bells; nephews, Rick and Michael Howard, Michael and Greg Taylor, and Brandon and Eric White; and nieces, Christina and Catie Beall. He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Steven Howard.

The family will receive friends form 6 -8 p.m. Friday at Waldo Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baylor Cancer Research at 3310 Live Oak, Suite 501 LB 13, Dallas, TX 75204 or Home Hospice of Grayson County at 505 W. Center, Sherman, TX 75090.
