Services for Walter Lee Snowden of Sherman, 86 year-old retired truck
driver, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Waldo Funeral Chapel. The Rev.
Larry Rice, Baptist minister of Pittsburg, will officiate.
Burial will be in Cedarlawn Memorial with Travis Masonic Lodge No. 117
conducting graveside rites.
Mr. Snowden was born in Allen, son of Gideon Lewis Snowden and Ella
Katherine Early Snowden. In 1934, he married Mildred Sprowl who died in 1950.
After her death, he married Lucille Stout in 1952 who died in 1971. Later, he married
Marie Box Strickland in 1981, in Sherman.
A World War II Navy veteran, he retired from Anderson-Clayton in 1974, after
36 years of service and more than 3 million miles. He began his employment at
Interstate Cotton Oil Refining Company, that became Mrs. Tucker's Products and later Anderson-Clayton.
He was a member of Travis Masonic Lodge No. 117, Scottish Rite
and Hella Temple Shrine. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church
Triple L Club, 42 Social Club and First Baptist Keystone Bible Class.
Pallbearers will be John Hunter, Odell Webb, Ralph White, Bub Harris, Coad
Robinson, Michael Morrison and Joel Cole.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Keystone Bible Class.
Surviving are his wife; daughter, Judy Carrol Robinson of Dallas;
brother, Alfred Lewis Snowden of Waco; sister, Marie Christian of
Sherman; and one granddaughter. The family will be at the funeral home
from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and other times at the family home.
