Yert, 49, a tool and die maker for Texas Instruments in Houston and a former Denison resident, who died Wednesday at his home in Richmond, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Johnson-Moore Funeral Chapel. Rev. Tony Salisbury of the First Christian Church officiated. Burial was at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman. Mr. Yert was born in Detroit, Michigan, a son of Mrs. Mary Yert and the late Albert Yert and married Nora Robeson April 3, 1948 in Plymouth, Michigan. He was a graduate of Wayne, Michigan High School and a Catholic. Surviving are his wife; son, Albert Yert of Sherman; daughters, Mrs. Linda Johnson of Goodrich; and Becky Yert and Mrs. Roxanne Sweet, both of Denison; his mother of Michigan; sister, Mrs. Mary Cannon of Garden City, Michigan; and four grandchildren. Pallbearers were Larry Cross, Robert Cannon, Frank Yert, Al Weber, Walter Yert Jr. and Tom Donoho. Nora Louise Yert, 88, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison. Services were held Thursday, July 19 at Savoy Church of Christ. David Street, Jeramie Sweet and Braden Sweet officiated. Burial followed in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers were Jason Johnson, Caleb Johnson, Logan Johnson, Jeramie Sweet, Braden Sweet, and Aron Yert. Nora was born September 18, 1929 in Poolville, Texas, daughter of Harry and Sammie Manley Robeson. Nora and Albert G. Yert were married April 3, 1948 in Pontiac, Michigan; he preceded her in death in 1979. Nora retired from Texas Instruments after 30 years. After retirement, she opened Stay and Play Daycare in Denison. She ran this daycare from 1990 to 2005. She was known to all the kids as "Grandma". Years after the daycare closed, if one of "her" kids saw her, they waved and always would say "Hi, Grandma." Her family was the most important people in her life and she cherished every minute she spent with them. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Yert Phipps of Denison and Rebecca Yert of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Teresa Yert Bergquist and husband, Alan, of Pottsboro; grandchildren, Jason Johnson and wife, Becky, of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; Misty Pearson and husband, Frank, of Colonial Heights, Virginia; Aron Yert and wife, Bethany, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Jeramie Sweet and wife, Robin, of Savoy, Texas; Braden Sweet and wife, Peggy, of Denison, Texas; Rayna Monroe and husband, Justin, of Bells, Texas; Terra Cueva and husband, Josh, of Denison, Texas; Tiffany Oliphant of Sherman, Texas; Dustin Wilson, Braxton Roberson and Kaylee Barrett, all of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Logan, and Kamryn Johnson of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; Austin "Trey" Pearson of Colonial Heights, Virginia; Ace and Max Monroe of Bells, Texas; Isaac Yert of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Preston and Gavin Oliphant of Sherman; and many nieces and nephews. Nora was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Sanda Yert and Roxanne Yert; son, Albert E. Yert and granddaughter, Micah Yert.
