Wimbish - Posey 23 December 1930 - 8 September 2014 The Herald Democrat September 7, 2014 Denison - Mrs. Mattie Wimbish-Posey, 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at her home in Denison. Mattie Juanita Wimbish was born December 23, 1930 in Denison, Texas, daughter of Earnest and Mattie Smith Wimbish. Mrs. Posey was raised in Denison where she graduated from Terrell School in 1948. She had a great love for the Lord and enjoyed serving and worshipping Him with her close friends and church family at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Mrs. Mattie married J.K. Posey in Denison, Texas and they shared their lives together for 30 years before he went home to be with the Lord. Mrs. Posey never had children of her own, but she shared every ounce of love in her heart with her brother, nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Mattie is now worshiping the Lord in Heaven, dancing with the angels in the midst of God's presence. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Mrs. Wimbish worked as a caregiver for Red River Home Health for 10 years, blessing every family that she met with Christ's love. She was also involved in other service community in the Denison area including the Business Professional Women (BPW) and the North Texas Shalom Committee. Mrs. Mattie Wimbish-Posey is preceded in death by her husband, J.K. Posey; parents; 2 brothers, Earnest J. Wimbish and Norris Wimbish; sister, Diana Sims. She is survived by her loving family: brother, Morris Wimbish and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends. The Home-going Celebration Services were held Monday morning, September 8, 2014 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Denison with Rev. Thurman DeHorney officiating. Interment followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers for Mrs. Posey were Jason Wimbish, Christopher Jackson, Justin Walter-Stewart, Cedrick Wimbish, Javonte Wimbish and Monte Wimbish. Honorary pallbearers were Vance Wimbish, Ronnie Kelly, Donald Dean and Red Morrison. Services were under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home, Denison, Texas.
