Funeral services for James H. Washburn, 91, of Sherman were held Saturday morning in Dannel Funeral Home Chapel. He died Thursday, October 19, 1995 at Integrated Health Services of Texoma.
Paul D. Carter, elder of Western Heights Church of Christ, officiated, assisted by Rev. Mike Murphy of New Life Church.
Interment followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Washburn was born August 22, 1904 in Bells, Texas, son of Arthur Lee and Mary McCollum Washburn. He was a member of a pioneer Grayson County family who moved to this prior to the Civil War. He was a graduate of Bells High School. On September 18, 1926, he married Annie Laurie McGill.
He was employed by Washington Iron Works for 22 years and also farmed and raised cattle with his wife, Annie Laurie. He was formerly a member of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation County Committee for many years. He was also a member of the Bells Masonic Lodge for 70 years.  Mr. Washburn was a member of Western Heights Church of Christ and was a deacon at the Walnut Street Church of Christ and Travis Street Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dave Washburn; and a sister, Opal Washburn Reagan.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, of Sherman; daughters and son-in-laws, Norma and Robert "Bob" Farrer of Sherman; and Carolyn and Jerry Russell of Houston; brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Ruby Washburn, of Bells; granddaughter and husband, Laurie and Mike Murphy, of Sherman; grandson and wife, Jay and Brandy Russell, of Bryan; grandson and wife, Jim and Carol Russell of Houston; step-grandson, Scott Farrer of Tyler; great-granddaughters, Courtney and Ashley Murphy, both of Sherman; and Amber Russell of Bryan; and a nephew and wife, Carol and Vera Lee Ramey, who helped care for Mr. Washburn.
Pallbearers were Jim Russell, Jay Russell, Mike Murphy, Bob Farrer, Jerry Russell and Mike Ramey.
