Katheryn Lorene
Haralson Wright, the daughter of Claude and Velma Hainline Haralson, was born
December 19, 1921 in Collinsville, Texas and passed from this life on
Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital-WNJ in
Sherman at the age of 91.
Katheryn graduated from Sherman High School in 1939 and worked the candy
counter at S.H. Kress. She served in the Texas Women's Motor Corp before she
married Jerome D. Wright of Denison in 1942. Katheryn and Jerome traveled
extensively for 28 years while Jerome served in the Air Force. Katheryn led a
life of service as a volunteer
to each community in which she lived. She was a
nurse's aide for the Red Cross for ten years, a life member of the VFW Ladies
Auxillary, a volunteer at Eisenhower's Birthplace, Jefferson Elementary School,
TCOG, the Sherman Public Library and was treasurer for AARP in Sherman. She was
a member of the Church of Christ and taught Sunday School and Bible School. She
was a league member at the Twin City lanes for many years. Katheryn worked at
Goetz Distributing and the Grayson County Tax Office after moving back to
Sherman. But most important she was a loving and devoted
wife of 70 years, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her
twinkling eyes and caring heart will be missed.
Katheryn was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Claude Haralson,
Jr., sisters Mildred Ellis, Wilma Hughes, and Jodi Haralson.
She is survived by her husband, Jerome D. Wright of Sherman; son Jerry Wright
