Wortman 13 December 1926 - 14 January 2016 Staff Sergeant US Air Force WWII, Korea, Vietna The Herald Democrat March 15 - March 16, 2015 SHERMAN - Nola Gilley Wortman, age 91, of Sherman, Texas was born on January 17, 1924 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to John Richard and Velva Okle Blakey. She passed away on March 12, 2015 at the Texoma Healthcare Center in Sherman. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2015 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Reddell, Rev. Mark Berrier and Rev. Jeremy Myers officiating. Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Sherman. Nola always said if you have problems, take it one step at a time then move on. She always believed better days were coming and that this too shall pass. Nola always tried being friends with all the people she met and could always work with those people. She treated people with dignity and respect, giving each one of them the benefit of the doubt. In her time of sickness, she said, "Let the Lord have his will and he will see you through." Nola married Donald Wortman on April 22, 1948 in Sherman. She is survived her husband of 65 years, Donald Wortman; one son, John (Donie) Donald Wortman of Sherman; one brother-in-law, Eugene Carey of Sherman; one sister-in-law, Betty Gilley of Josephine, Texas; cousins, Shirley Wortman and John and Carol Hernandez and numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Nola was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Cecil and Vernon Gilley; one half brother, James Gilley; one sister, Euna Fay Carey and one sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and Paul Meek. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Central Christian Church, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Grand Central Food Bank or Salvation Army.
