Established 1948 Sherman - Funeral services for William "Curtis" Wilson were held Saturday, June 30 at Waldo Funeral Home. Rev. Bill Lee officiated with Mike Norman, Tony Giarraputo, Mike Brown, Mitchell Clearman, Bruce Wilson and John Herrington serving as pallbearers. Emtombment with military honors followed in the Chapel of Memories at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Wilson, 93, passed away Monday, June 25 at Woodlands Place Rehabilitation Suites. Curtis was born September 9, 1924 in Gunter, Texas to the late Lee and Ocie Adams Wilson. He proudly served in the US Army during World War II in Okinawa, Japan. Mr. Wilson was recently presented with a Certificate of Appreciation and badge for his service. On December 3, 1944 he and Willie Lee Melton were married in Sherman. Curtis worked in Quality Assurance at the Sherman Cotton Mill and Burlington Industries for his entire career. In retirement he enjoyed mowing, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a longtime member of the Pathway Church of God. Later in life, he and his wife were members of Faith Church in Sherman, Texas. Mr. Wilson is survived by his daughter, Patricia Wilborn and husband, Don, of Sherman; two sons, Bobby Wilson and wife, Linda, of Denison; and Kenneth Wilson of Sherman; grandchildren, Bruce Wilson; Sherry Herrington and husband, John; Jennifer Brown and husband, Mike; Shanna Eggleston and husband, Perry; Devin Clearman and husband, Mitchell; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, T.H.
