Sherman - Funeral services for John Park Wilson were held Friday afternoon, January 21 at Key Memorial United Methodist Church in Sherman with Rev. Albert Fisher of the church officiating. Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with John Williams, James Williams, Rick Spencer, Dr. Randy Atkinson, Mike Paige, and Rick Cook serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were W.A. Chumbley, L.D. Gudgel, Doyle Barton, Buck Barker, and Ray Dodson. John, 89, passed away Monday, January 17 at Texoma Healthcare Center. 

John was born April 23, 1921 in Sterling, Kansas to the late John and Elsie (Park) Wilson. During World War II, John served in the US Air Force as a flight instructor and was discharged after the war at the rank of Major. On September 1, 1946, Mr. Wilson married Ann Cook in McGregor, Texas. They were married 47 years when Ann passed away in 1993. John worked as a postal carrier for 20 years and served in many positions at the Sherman branch, including president. In retirement, he sold postal uniforms. He was an avid Sherman Bearcat football fan and enjoyed his daily walks at Fairview Park. John was a longtime member of Key Memorial UMC where he had served as church treasurer for over 20 years and was a former Sunday School Superintendent. 
John is survived by five daughters: Cathye Ballou and her husband Willies of Dorchester; Linda Battenfield and husband Glenn of Seattle; Jonna Brooks, Patty Wilson, and Pamela Wilson all of Sherman; four grandchildren: Arthur, Stephen, and Scott Boyd, all of Seattle and James Ballou of San Antonio; three great-grandchildren; and, his beloved Chihuahua, Tiny.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a grandson, Daniel Cunningham. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Key Memorial UMC at 901 E. Houston, Sherman TX 75090 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Texoma Healthcare for their kindness and devoted care.
