- Funeral services for Edwin J. Woyewodzic, 85, of Denison were held
10:00 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2002 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church
with Father John Dick officiating. He died Thursday, December 26, 2002
at Texoma Medical Center. Johnson-Moore Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
Edwin J. Woyewodzic was born August 19, 1917 in Starkville, Colorado to parents Jozef and Anna Wojtas Wojewodzc. He graduated from Trinidad High School in Trinidad, Colorado and went on to Officer Candidate School at Randolph Air Force Base and Kelly Field. He married Marie Bruno on February 16, 1944 in Denison. She preceded him in death on December 18, 1987. Mr. Woyewodzic retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a combat pilot in the Army-Air Force, 8th Air Force. Mr Woyewodzic flew 27 combat missions in a B-17 and was shot down in 1944 while stationed in England. He received a Purple Heart and received his commission from Congressman Sam Rayburn. Mr. Woyewodzic was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Denison. Rosary was at 6:00 p.m. Sunday night, December 29 at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Chad Woyewodzic, Steve Woyewodzic, Kelly Woyewodzic, Chris Woyewodzic, David Woyewodzic, David Ruble and Kevin Green. The family suggests memorials be sent to: St Patrick's Catholic Church, 314 N. Rusk, Denison, Texas 75020. Survivors are; son, Edwin J. Woyewodzic, Jr. of Richardson, Texas; son, Robert Thomas Woyewodzic of Lewis, Colorado; brother, Frank Woyewodzic of Cortez, Colorado; sister, Emily Thomas of Van Nuys, California; grandchildren Chad Edwin Woyewodzic, Steven J. Woyewodzic, Christopher S. Woyewodzic, Kelly T. Woyewodzic, and Robin Duran; and great-granddaughter Samantha Duran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Woyewodzic, and brothers Walter and Louis Woyewodzic.
