Established 1948 The Denison Herald October 2, 1992 A-2 Services for Merron Ray VanZandt, 71, of Sherman, were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. He died Thursday at Care Inn in Denison. Rev. Thomas Beall of Southmayd Baptist Church officiated. Burial was in the Veterans Section at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Mr. VanZandt was born in Bonham, the son of James Albert VanZandt and Martha Johnson VanZandt, and attended schools there. On June 13, 1944, he married Nettie Coburn in Bonham. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and saw duty in Europe and the South Pacific. He had been employed as an assembler for Southwest Pump Company and retired in 1986 after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Bonham American Legion Post No. 283 and Whiteshed Methodist Church in Bonham. He had been a Sherman resident since 1987. Surviving are his wife; son, Ronald VanZandt of Bonham; daughters, Bettie VanZandt and Shirley Geer, both of Sherman; and two granddaughters. Pallbearers will be members of the American Legion. Denison Herald August 28, 1992 A-2 Services for Miss Caroline VanZandt, 41-year-old registered nurse of Sherman, formerly of Bonham, were held at 2 p.m. today in Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. She died Wednesday at her home. Rev. Thomas Beall of Pottsboro officiated. Burial was Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Miss VanZandt was born in Bonham, a daughter of Merron and Nettie Coburn VanZandt, and was a 1969 graduate of Bonham High School. She was employed as a licensed vocational nurse for 10 years at Northeast Medical Center in Bonham. She then attended Grayson County College School of Nursing and graduated in 1986. She had been employed as a registered nurse at Wilson N. Jones Hospital for six years. She was a member of the Bonham American Legion Auxiliary and Trinity Baptist Church. Surviving are her parents; grandmother, Cordie Coburn of Sherman; brother, Ronald VanZandt of Bonham; and sisters, Bettie Van Zandt and Shirley Geer, both of Sherman. Pallbearers will be Billy Ray Coburn, Philip White, Marvin Norman, Benny Coburn, Dwayne Coburn, Ralph Nason and Phillip Brown.
