Established 1948 Shawnee News-Star December 16, 2005 Denison, Texas, resident Floyd Wilburn Thomas, 91, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at the Homestead of Denison surrounded by his loving family and pastor. Mr. Thomas was born on February 2, 1914, son of John and Clara Moxley Thomas in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Floyd loved the land and farmed cotton and wheat in West Texas. He then became a dairy farmer for 29 years in Oklahoma. He served over 20 years on the Macomb school board. Floyd was always helping and thinking of others. He drove a Denison school bus for 4 years and delivered Meals on Wheels. Floyd was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Edith Estelle Thomas. Survivors include his daughters, Jonell Weber of Denison, Texas; Joy Lynn Thomas-Cogburn of Durant, Oklahoma; and Floy Beth Stevens of Moore; sons, Kenneth Wayne Thomas of Chandler; Daniel Thomas of Oklahoma City; and Floyd W. Thomas, Jr. of Durant, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother, John Wesley Thomas, Jr. of Calrendon, Oklahoma; sisters, Opal Morris of Harrah and Leona Duley of Clarendon, Texas. Services were held Saturday morning at Faith Assembly of God with Rev. Joyce Ames officiating. Burial followed in Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas. Arrangements were under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home in Denison.
