DENISON - Funeral service for Mary D. Sullivan Thomason, 88, of Denison, who died Oct. 12, 1995, at Texoma Medical Center, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bratcher Funeral home Chapel. The Rev. Bob Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Thomason was born Sept, 13, 1907, in Denison, the daughter of William Marlin and Christina Ann O'Dell Hedgpeth. She graduated from Denison High School. She earned her nursing degree from St. David's Hospital in Austin. She married W. P. Sullivan on Jan. 27, 1932. He was district claim agent for Katy Railroad. He preceded her in death in 1954. After the death of her husband, she moved to Dallas and was Administrator for the Health Department in Fowler Home for Children. She returned to Denison in 1969 and lived with and cared for her mother. She did special nursing in North Dallas. She married Burke Thomason in June of 1974. He preceded her in death Jan. 4, 1980. She was a member of Presbyterian Church, Garden Club, XXI Club and National Association of Federated Women Club. She was a member and past presiding officer of the Social Order of the Beauceants. She served as mother Advisor Order of the Rainbow Girls, sponsored by O.E.D. She was a member of Past Matrons Club of Denison, Order of the Eastern Star and a life member of Gate City Chapter #77. She was employed by M.K.&T Railroad Offices and St. David’s Hospital in Austin.
Survivors include a step-daughter, Barbara Ann Zimmerman of Texarkana; two sisters, Oleta Schleuse of Austin and Dana Short of Lancaster; several nephews and nieces; and three step-grandchildren.
