The Denison Press Friday, September 7, 1951 pg. 1 JERRY L. TREADWAY IS FOUND DEAD IN HOME MONDAY Jerry L. Treadway, 73-year-old retired Katy conductor and resident of Denison for 50 years, was found dead after a shot was heard in the bathroom of his home at 526-1/2 W. Gandy at 4:47 Monday morning. Mr. Treadway's body was found by C.H. Huffaker in whose house Mr. Treadway lived after being called by Mr. Treadway and the daughter, Miss Eloise Treadway, who were awakened by the shot. A verdict of suicide was rendered by Justice of the Peace Charles McKemy, who found a 20-gauge shotgun beside the body. A single shot had been fired into the roof of the suicide victim's mouth. The victim had been in ill health for some time, the family reported. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 5 o'clock at Bratcher-Moore chapel. Services were conducted by Dr. H.C. Henderson, pastor of Waples Methodist church and interment was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Treadway was born near Evansville, Indiana, January 3, 1878, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Treadway. He received his early education in Indiana, and later moved his family to St. Louis where he completed his education and went to work for the Illinois Central R.R. He was married in 1903 to Miss Dolly Wirth of Kansas. He also worked for the Union Pacific, the Southern Pacific, and the Texas and Pacific before joining the Katy railroad where he was employed until his retirement. He was a member of Waples church, Masonic Lodge, 32nd degree Mason, ORC, the Elks and the W.O.W. He is survived by his widow and daughter; and a son, Jerry Treadway, all of Denison. Jerry R.
