Established 1948 Imogene Smith 14 April 1922 - 19 August 2014 Doyle Ward Smith 30 August 1911 - 18 September 1985 The Herald Democrat August 21, 2014 Dallas - Imogene Smith (Mrs. Doyle Smith, Sr.), 92, graduated to heaven on August 19, 2014 in Dallas, Texas. She was a long time Irving resident where she moved from her childhood home of Denison in 1989. She was a faithful member of Oakview Baptist Church and the Lively Oaks Seniors group at the church. She had love enough and was tough enough to raise her 5 sons, who all graduated from Texas A&M. They were her pride and joy and as her marker proudly states "all Aggie Sons." She proudly served as an officer in several A&M Mother's Clubs. She is preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Smith; her parents, J.R. and Mary C. Williams of Denison; 2 sisters and 6 brothers. She is survived by her Aggie sons and their families - William '60 and Carol Smith; Doyle Jr. '67 and Vicki Smith; Larry '69 and Gaylynn Smith; Eddie '71 and Karen Smith; Martin '73 and Joan Smith. She is also survived by a brother, Mearl Williams; 10 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; nephews; nieces; and a host of friends. Services were held Thursday morning at Oakview Baptist Church in Irving with a graveside service in Sherman at Cedarlawn Cemetery Thursday afternoon with Pastor James Gerlach officiating.
