Everett Sutherland was a Corporal in the U.S. Army.
He was the son of Mr and Mrs. J.B. Sutherland, who entered the U.S. Army in May 1942. He was awarded two Bronze Battle Stars and the Silver Star. He was on duty in Rosenberg, Germany.

Services for Ruby Lee Martin Sutherland, 86, of Sherman, were held Tuesday afternoon, July 28, 2009 at Dannel Funeral Home. Pastor C.D. Ballard of Liberty Lighthouse officiated.  Interment followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.  Ruby Passed away on Friday, July 24, 2009 at her residence.
Ruby was born on March 20, 1923 in Naples, daughter of John Lester and Addie Jackson Martin.
In 1947 she married Everett Sutherland in Durant, Oklahoma; she had more than 20 wonderful years with him.  During that time she had 3 beautiful girls and while caring for them, she was able to work with her husband in the Conoco service station. Ruby was a hard worker.  After her husband died in 1968, she worked at Bud Halls Conoco for several years and  later with her brother-in-law; she retired from Dewey Parker's Full Service Texaco after many years.   Ruby took great pride in her work and her customers and especially in keeping the Dannel Funeral Home cars in tip top condition.  She was a member of Crutchfield Height Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 5 brothers: Earl Martin, William Martin, Doug Martin, Raymond Martin and J.L. Martin, Jr.
Ruby is survived by her daughters: Barbara Ann Franklin of Belen, New Mexico; Norma Jean Risinger and husband, Charles, of Sherman; and Melba Sue Roe of Sherman; grandson, Jimmy Lynn Stanley; great-granddaughter, Renee Lynn Stanley Rogers; step-grandchildren: Kimberly Risinger and Shanya Matthers; and 3 step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Leon Martin, Johnny Lee Sutherland, Mike Sutherland, Joe Sutherland, Mark Arnold, John Sparks, Jerry Stanley and Victor Eizenga.
If desired, memorials may be made to Always Better Care, Sherman, Texas or Sunrise Home Health, Sherman, Texas.
