Novoember 30, 2009 DENISON - Funeral services for Frances A. "Fritz" Stoddard, 89, of Denison will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, in Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Rusty Denny will officiate, and burial will be in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home. She died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at Wesley Village. Mrs. Stoddard was born May 18, 1920, in Denison, the daughter of Lazarus Abraham and Estella Sacra Baum. She graduated from Denison High School in 1937. She married Fred Stoddard on Feb. 11, 1945, in Rockwall. Mr. Stoddard died Feb. 18, 2002. During her life, she followed her husband in his Army career from 1945 -1968. During this time they spent time in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, France, Alaska and of course the U.S.A. They retired in Gary, and Fritz was baptized by the Mt. Enterprise Baptist Church. They later moved to Denison and she joined the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church on Morton Street. The church became her life and she served as a teacher, church clerk, treasurer and kitchen coordinator. She became a great asset in visitation with her pastor in her later years with the elderly. She also served as a volunteer at TMC, Denison Public Library and SNAP Center. In her later years she resided at Wesley Village, which she fondly referred to as "Home." She was supported by her family and special ones: Bro. Rusty Denny and wife Nora, Betty and Hershel Watson, Margaret and Earl Shields, Joyce Taber, Erika Orr, Mary Helen Chapin, Carlene Ross, Joan Lancaster, Bo Mullican, Dr. John Tyson, Alice French, Dr. Willie, Cathy Neiling, nurses and staff of Wesley Village. Surviving are her son, Paul Stoddard of Fairbanks, Alaska; niece, Linda Lee Smith and husband Ernest of Austin; great-nieces, Whitney Smith, Kendal Lake and husband Alan of Fort Worth; and great-great-nephew, Simon Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Robert Rutherford. Pallbearers will be Hershel Watson, Ricky Watson, Ernest Smith, Alan Lake, Keith Lane and Shane Hill. The family will be at the funeral home from 6 -7 p.m. Monday. The family suggests memorials be made to Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Youth Travel Fund, 2401 W. Morton St., Denison, TX 75020.
