Established 1948 James H. Schnitker 29 November 1921 - 24 January 1970 Texas PFC Army AIr Forces WWII Lila Gene Schnitker, 97, went to join her Heavenly family on December 22, 2021. Lila was born in Pottsboro, Texas on September 9, 1924, daughter of Sam and Minnie Guilloud. Growing up during the Depression era, she developed a strong work ethic as she helped with the family farm, picking cotton. She married James Henry Schnitker on November 21, 1942 in Spokane, Washington where James was stationed in the Army during World War II. Their first child, Shirley, was born in Spokane. Lila worked as a waitress. Lila made Denison her home for the rest of her years. She worked as a bookkeeper at Hubbard's Furniture until her late 80s. Lila is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brotner, Laverne "Bud"; sister, Helen; and daughter, Shirley. Survivors include her sister, Betty Faulkner of Pottsboro; daughters, Beverly Horn of Denison; Janet Finnegan and husband, Jim, of Garland; and Vicki Erickson and husband, Mark, of Richardson; son, James Schnitker and wife, Kim, of Rowlett; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Rosary was read Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Fisher Funeral Home in Denison. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning, December 29, 2021 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Denison. Burial was at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman, Texas. - - - Fisher Funeral Home Denison - Shirley Jean Schnitker Welch, 68, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012. Shirley was born January 16, 1944, daughter of James Henry and Lila Jean Guilloud Schnitker. Shirley grew up in Denison, Texas, where she graduated from Denison High School in 1962. She graduated from Denison Commercial Business College in 1963 and spent many years working in the oil and gas industry. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandma and friend. Rosary was held Monday, March 26, 2012. Funeral mass was held Tuesday morning, March 27, 2012 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Rev. Stephen Mocio officiating. She is survived by her mother; daughter, Cheryl Lecce and husband, Andy, of Keller, Texas; son, Matthew Malo and wife, Jill, of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; sisters, Beverly Horn and children, Marcus, Teresa and husband, Joshua Marx, of Denison, Texas; Janet Finnegan and husband, Jim, of Garland, Texas; brother, James Schnitker and wife, Kim, and children Laura, Andrew, and Michael, of Garland, Texas; sister, Vicki Erickson and husband, Mark, and daughter, Jordan, of Richardson, Texas; grandchildren: Jon Malo, Kassidy Malo, and Drew Leece. She was preceded in death by her father. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Community Hospice of Texas, Ft. Worth, Texas.
