Established 1948   John Wayne Smith of Denison, Texas passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Texoma Medical Center surrounded by his beloved family. John was born December 3, 1951 in Las Vegas, Nevada, son of Oscar and Oma Lee Smith. He was a very caring, loving, giving man. John attended public schools and graduated from Denison High School Class of 1970. He worked as a master welder most of his life until becoming disabled. John enjoyed grilling and cooking for his family who he loved beyond words. He also enjoyed wood carving, fishing and going to car shows. He leaves behind his loving wife, Sandra,; his sons, Chad and Cody; and daughter, Shannon; grandsons, Tristin, Colby, and Cooper. He loved very much being Papaw. He spent many days at his grandsons' sporting events and was so very proud of them. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David. Funeral service was held Wednesday afternoon, May 26, 2021 at Fisher Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Speers officiating. Interment followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman.
