- Funeral for Rudy Shelton, 80, 1615 W. Murray, who died Tuesday at a
local hospital were held Thursday afternoon at Bratcher Chapel with
Rev. Dale Gore officiating. Burial followed in Cedarlawn Memorial
Park. Shelton, a Denison resident for 39 years, was born February 2, 1905 in Itasco, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Shelton. He graduated from Baylor University in 1928 and married Mickey Cowan on March 1, 1929 in Hillsboro. She died October 10, 1977. Shelton was an employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone for 34 years and was a plant foreman for the company, retiring in 1962. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Lone Star Masonic Lodge #403. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Britt Swain, Jr. of Denison; brother, Cliff of McKinney; and 3 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Raymond Nix, Ralph Sharpe, Carroll Shelton and Wendell Shelton.
