Established 1948   Virlon V. Shaffer 1909 - 1984 Birl W. Shaffer 1912 - 1991  Mildred Madge Shaffer 1922 - 2016 Gordon Pilgrim Shaffer 1918 - 1996 Mildred M. Shaffer, 94, slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Beacon Hill in Denison, Texas.
Mrs. Shaffer was born January 16, 1922 in Denison, daughter of Mary Jo and Vada Weaver. She was the tireless wife of Gordon who was a Missionary Baptist Minister and a missionary who founded several churches in Texas, New Mexico, and California. They returned back to Denison where they lived and worked for several years. Millie always supported her husband, church and friends wherever they served. She had many friends and was always ready to help. Millie is survived by her brother, Hubert Weaver of Lubbock, Texas; son, Bruce Shaffer and wife, Kathy, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter-in-law, Martha Shaffer Baker of Brownwood, Texas; 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Gordon P. Shaffer; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Dwain Lee; sons, Dan Shaffer and Bill Shaffer; 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Graveside services were held Tuesday afternoon, August 30, 2016 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman with Pastor Stephen Lee officiating. Pallbearers were Ryan Shaffer, Royce Shaffer, Lance Shaffer, Eric Shaffer, Mike Lee and Jerry Weaver. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials in her name to Friends in Faith Fellowship, O'Fallon, Missouri, which is a ministry of her grandson, Stephen Lee.
